5 Ways AI Is Already in Your Classroom and Why That Matters

When we hear teachers ask whether they should bring AI into the classroom, we usually flip the question. When did you last walk into a classroom that didn't have AI in it?

Five places it's likely showing up already:

  1. Auto-grading and feedback tools. If your district uses any modern assessment platform, AI is reading student responses and surfacing patterns.
  2. Reading level recommendations. Library and curriculum tools that suggest books at a student's level use AI to do it.
  3. Writing assistants. Grammarly and similar tools have evolved into full AI writing partners.
  4. Translation and accessibility. Real time captions, translations, and reading support are AI driven.
  5. Student devices. Anyone with a phone has a free chatbot in their pocket.

The point isn't to be alarmed. The point is that the question 'should we use AI?' has already been answered for us. The better question is what AI literacy do students need to use these tools well.
